From time immemorial, exploring the marvels of our infinite universe and space has been an interesting subject that aroused the curiosity of humankind. It is quite obvious that this eagerness to investigate a myriad of engrossing facts about space and to unravel its wonders has clearly made a significant insight into the space sector to advocate for the development of space in a great deal. SEDS UOC, a place that allows such explorations to meet reality, is a unique platform for students to exhibit and enhance their knowledge and talents in the exploration and development of space.

Initiated at the beginning of 2019, SEDS UOC serves as the SEDS chapter of the University of Colombo, representing 10 faculties. With the aim of accomplishing the goal of increasing the member involvement in upcoming SEDS projects, SEDS UOC brings those who are passionate about space-related areas of interest together, by providing them the opportunities to transcend their horizons beyond the globe. A wide range of activities are performed throughout the year by the club, and members have participated in major SEDS Sri Lanka projects, university projects as well as international events, including Serendib Balloon Project, Astra India, Mars Hackathon, and the India Rover Challenge.

SEDS UOC not only gives you the chance to sail across the stars and galaxies to discover novel things, but also it opens doors for the members to interact with professionals, scientists, and engineers from space industries across the globe, as well as to develop leadership skills, and get international recognition. Providing opportunities to participate in multi-level programs related to spacecraft, space literature, and analysis of sky objects as well as conducting workshops, designing competitions, Space Talks, and webinar series on career paths to improve professional and academic aspirations are remarkable. In this regard, educational and engineering projects launched by SEDS UOC take great importance.
A Journey for All
The events held and hosted by SEDS UOC are concerned with an intervening number of areas such as microbiology, physical sciences, computer sciences, geography, technology, space medicine, and aeronautics, etc. While opening up ways to probe into new domains in space science, the students, as well as the general public, are educated on how to utilize the advancements in science and technology along with the expansion of knowledge effectively, to explore the space beyond our atmosphere.
